AUBURN, Ala. – IUPUI got the bats going against Murray State but fell in a tight one-run game, 5-4 to the Racers on Sunday (Feb. 29) to end the Tiger Invite.
IUPUI (0-5) finished the game with five hits from five different players and got a few clutch at bats, but could not squeeze out its first win of the season.
In the second inning, the Jags struck first after the first two batters of the inning walked. After two strikeouts,
Lauren Youngblood singled to center to bring home IUPUI's first run of the game.
Jaida Speth delivered in the next at bat with another single to center to scored Tori Sivert and Youngblood.
Murray State took advantage of two walks in the bottom of the frame with 1-out triple to cut the lead to 3-2. A single by the Racers in the bottom of the third knotted the game at three.
IUPUI took the lead back in the fourth inning with the help of some miscues by Murray State.
Jennah Speth reached on an error and then moved to second on a wild pitch.
Kasie Keyes picked up her first-career hit and RBI with a double to bring home Speth.

Jennah Speth got two outs but a home run to left field put Murray State back on top 5-4.
The Jags got a runner to second in top of the fifth but were unable to bring home the tying run. In both the sixth and seventh innings, IUPUI was not able to get a runner on base.

IUPUI will play in its other non-conference tournament of the weekend, traveling to Bellarmine for five games on Friday (March 5) to Sunday (March 7).
