JAGUARS EARN BACK-TO-BACK #HLWBB WINS AFTER DEFEATING OAKLAND, 74-49

Williams and Perkins led IUPUI with 14 points each

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The IUPUI women's basketball team earned their third straight win and second straight Horizon League conference win after defeating Oakland Saturday afternoon, 74-49. Macee Williams and Destiny Perkins led the Jags with 14 points each. Williams added 12 rebounds while Perkins collected eight rebounds and six assists. Sophomore transfer Rachel Kent followed with 13 points and one assist.

"It was important for us to go 2-0 on this road trip and we did that," said head coach Austin Parkinson. "Destiny had one of her best games of her career, highlighted by her eight rebounds." 
 
Williams, Perkins and Kent started for the Jaguars along with Rachel McLimore and Madison Wise. McLimore scored six points with four rebounds and five assists while Wise scored two points with five rebounds. IUPUI out-rebounded Oakland 45 to 27.  

"Rachel McLimore did a great job defending the other team's leading scorer," said Parkinson. "Anna Mortag continues to be an offensive boost off the bench and Morgan Allen stepped up in a big way today as well." 
 
Mortag came off the bench and scored 10 points with three rebounds and one assist. Allen added eight points and four rebounds while Ali Berg scored three points with three rebounds. Natalie Andersen and Jacquel Bronaugh each added two points.

The Jags started the game off strong and took the lead early scoring 19 points in the first quarter and held the Golden Grizzlies to eight points. Oakland was unable to take the lead as IUPUI held onto a lengthy lead throughout all four quarters. The Jaguars took their largest lead of 28 with five minutes left in the fourth quarter.
 
IUPUI finished the game at 45.8 percent (27-for-59) and 38.5 percent (10-for-26) at the three-point line while holding the Golden Grizzlies to 32.1 percent (18-for-56) from the floor. The Jags totaled 17 assists and five steals.
 
The Jaguars return to the Jungle to take on in-state foe, Ball State on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 7:00 PM ET. Game coverage will be on ESPN+.
