INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's basketball team fell short against conference foe Northern Kentucky to finish out 2021, 54-53. Graduate student
Macee Williams led the Jaguars with 23 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Sophomore transfer
Rachel Kent followed with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Madison Wise added nine points while
Rachel McLimore added six rebounds.
"Credit Northern Kentucky with how the executed offensively," head coach
Austin Parkinson. "We could not guard Ivy Turner or Lindsey Duval."
NKU took the lead early in the first quarter, 15-9, and stayed on top for most of the game. The Jags came within one with 33 seconds left with a three pointer from
Rachel Kent. They had an opportunity to take the lead after Williams got the rebound from a missed free throw with 16 seconds left but couldn't take the lead.
"I thought Macee asserted herself offensively when we got her touches," said Parkinson. "Our ball movement and player movement are severely lacking which results in challenging offensive possessions."
IUPUI finished the game at 38.2 percent (21-for-55) from the floor and 23.5 percent (4-for-17) at the three-point line while holding the Norse to 32.7 percent (18-for-55) from the floor. The Jags outrebounded the Norse 43 to 30.
The Lady Jaguars will play Wright State at the Jungle on Sunday, Jan. 2 at 3:00 PM ET on ESPN+.
