INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI swimming and diving team wrapped up the House of Champions Invitational on Saturday with a men's team second-place finish (1282.5 points) and a women's overall finish in sixth place (646). The final day of the invitational was highlighted by two new IUPUI records. Spencer Jyawook finished fourth and set a new top time in the men's 100 freestyle with a time of 44.21. Freshman Logan Kelly set a new Jaguar record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:57.49 to earn second place overall.

The Jags sent 26 athletes to the finals after qualifying in the first session of the day. After the prelims, Sadie Smith took second place in the women's 3 mtr diving with a score of 272.05.

During the finals session the Jags set five top ten IUPUI records including times in the women's 1650 free, women's 200 backstroke, men's 200 butterfly, men's 200 breaststoke and men's 100 free.

Logan Kelly set the fourth fastest time in school history during the prelim session in the 200 breast with a time of 2:00.42 then broke the overall IUPUI fastest time in the finals with a time of 1:57.49 to earn second place overall.

"I was really happy with my swims. A couple of my final swims weren't quite what I wanted but I can't complain if I'm cutting time from what I had coming into the meet," said Kelly. "My head was in the right spot, I was swimming fast, and I was swimming smart. All my details were spot on"

Other top ten IUPUI times came from Jyawook in the 100 free, Nick Dibley, Lauren Thompson and Emmaleigh Zietlow. Dibley placed fourth in the 200 fly with the eighth fastest time in Jag history with a time of 1:49.78. Thompson sealed a fourth-place finish in the women's 200 back with the tenth fastest time in school history (2:00.87) and Zietlow finished third in the women's 1650 free with the eighth fastest time (17:07.57).

Big time swims came from Ben Kimmel, who finished fourth (1:48.72), and Dane Charleston, who finished fifth (1:50.15) in the men's 200 back. Kevin Burke placed fifth in the men's 100 free with a time of 45.26. Overall, the Jags had one of their best meets during head coach Damion Dennis' tenure.

"As a team, we were fantastic, one of the best meets I have been a part of," said Dennis. "We had numerous records broken, numerous top ten times and we just all around had great success."

The Jags finished out their fall season with the House of Champions and will be back in action in the new year on January 7 at UIC.
