INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host the annual House of Champions Invitational inside the Natatorium this week, spanning from Thursday (Nov. 18) through Saturday (Nov. 20). Teams will compete in preliminary events in the mornings each day at 10:00 a.m. and return for championships in the evenings at 6:00 p.m. each day. In addition, diving events will be hosted at 1:00 p.m. daily as well.
Athletes from IUPUI, Ball State, Butler, Green Bay, Illinois, Indianapolis, Lewis, Milwaukee and UIC are expected to compete as the Jaguars will close out the fall portion of its schedule with the three-day invite. Championship Central page throughout the event.
Both
Damion Dennis' men's and women's squads boasts some of the Horizon League's top performers so far this season.
On the women's side, fifth-year senior
Caylee Hamilton owns the league's best 50 free time at 23.67. The Jags boast impressive depth in the 200 as
Emma Theobald (1:54.25),
Lillian Brandt (1:55.14) and
Emmaleigh Zietlow (1:55.24) all rank among the tops in the league. Theobald is among the best and most versatile swimmers in the league, ranking No. 2 in the 500 free (5:05.68) where Zietlow sits fourth (5:06.62). Theobald is also third in the league in the 50 back (26.91) and
Lauren Thompson is fifth at 27.21 and the duo is second and fourth in the 100 back, respectively. Theobald owns a season best time of 56.21 and Thompson has a best time of 57.78. In the 200 back, Theobald has posted a time of 2:01.44 and Thompson has swam 2:06.42.
Zietlow is among the top distance swimmers in the league, ranking No. 2 in the 1,000 free at 10:29.09. She and Theobald are the team's best in the IM, showcasing each of their versatility.
Newcomer
Ali Sippel is among the league's best in the breaststroke, having notched a time of 1:07.18 in the 100 breast and 2:24.54 in the 200 breast. On the boards, sophomore
Sadie Smith is a two-time Horizon League Diver of the Week and freshman
Isabella Smith has also performed well in her first collegiate campaign.
On the men's side, transfer
Spencer Jyawook is third in the league in the 50 free (20.54) and 100 free (45.34) and
Kevin Burke is just behind him at 20.60 in the 50.
Nick Dibley is among the league's best in the 500 free at 4:41.03 while younger brother
Luke Dibley ranks No. 12 in the league in the 1,000 free at 9:49.65.
Nicolas Gallego is just off his pace at 9:50.72.
Riley Lohse is the team's best in the backstroke at 23.22 in the 50 back and 51.25 in the 100 back.
Ben Kimmel is next in line in the 100 back at 51.38 and owns the league's fifth-best time in the 200 back at 1:50.79.
Logan Kelly ranks among the league's top performers in the breaststroke, having recorded a time of 56.17 in the 100 breast and 2:03.95 in the 200 breast.
Jason Harary is also among the league's top-5 in the 200 breast at 2:08.98 and is the team's top performer in the 200 and 400 IM. Jyawook also excels in the butterfly with the team's top time in the 100 fly at 48.68.
Alex Scott has been the team's top diver for much of the season but the Jags also boast depth in
Kyle Huehn and
Adam Schmehl.
