INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 23) when the Jaguars host Horizon League foe Milwaukee at the Natatorium at 4:00 p.m.. IUPUI is coming off a stellar effort at last weekend's Indiana Intercollegiates at Purdue as three men's swimmers earned individual event wins and three Jags were honored with #HLSD weekly awards.
Head coach
Damion Dennis' team will face a stiff test on Saturday as the Milwaukee men were picked immediately behind the Jaguars in the Horizon League Preseason Poll and the women were picked immediately behind IUPUI.
Following their efforts and the Indiana Intercollegiates, IUPUI freshman
Emmaleigh Zietlow and divers
Sadie Smith and Adam Scott collected the league's top weekly honors.
The women's team boasts the league's top performers in the 50 free as
Lillian Brandt (24.33) and
Caylee Hamilton (24.47) own the top two times thus far. Brandt also has the league's top time in the 100 free (53.03) and
Emma Theobald (1:54.25), Brandt (1:55.14) and Zietlow (1:55.24) rank among the league's top four in the 200 free. Zietlow is the league's top performer in the 1,000 free (10:30.92) and Theobald is the top performer in the 200 back (2:01.44).
Theobald (4:29.63) and Zietlow (4:38.50) rank as the league's top two performers in the 400 IM in the season's early going.
On the men's side,
Spencer Jyawook won the 100 fly at the Indiana Intercollegiates with a time of 48.68 and
Nick Dibley won the 500 free with a time of 4:41.03.
Logan Kelly cruised to a win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.84.
Jyawook (20.71) and
Kevin Burke (20.78) rank 1-2 in the Horizon League in the 50 free and
Nicolas Gallego ranks third in the league in the 1,000 free (9:50.72).
Riley Lohse is second in the league in the 50 back with a time of 23.22 and
Ben Kimmel is tops in the league in the 100 back at 51.38. Kelly and
Jason Harary ranks among the league's best in the 200 breaststroke and Jyawook is tops in the 100 fly (48.68).
IUPUI's divers have performed well in the season's early going as Smith posted scores of 278.90 in the 1-meter and 269.30 in the 3-meter at the Indiana Intercollegiates. Scott notched a score of 308.50 in the 1-meter and 269.70 in the 3-meter.
