INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's tennis will be on the road for two matches this week before coming back home for a match on Sunday. The Jags will take on UIndy on Wednesday (Feb. 5) to start the week.
IUPUI will travel across town to take on the Greyhounds with the match beginning at 2 p.m. IUPUI will then travel to Cincinnati for a matchup against the Bearcats on Friday (Feb. 7) at 5 p.m. The Jags will finish up the week with a home match against Illinois State on Sunday (Feb. 9) also beginning at 5 p.m.
ABOUT IUPUI
The Jags will be looking for their first win of the season over the week, having dropped the first five contests of the season. Krystal Grubb, Marta Krakowski and Gabrielle Ochalik all have one win in singles play on the season. The Jags best spot has been the No. 2 spot where IUPUI is 3-2 with wins from Grubb and Ochalik to go along with a walkover.
In doubles play, Christina Stankovic is undefeated in dual matches at 2-0, teaming with Diya Matta and Ines Rivera. The other Jaguar win in doubles play came from the duo of Grubb and Ochalik at No. 1.
ABOUT UINDY
UINDY IS 2-0 on the season with back-to-back 6-1 wins at Butler and Tusculum to start the season. On the season, the Greyhounds are undefeated in five of the six singles spots but are 0-2 in the No. 5 singles spot. UIndy is 2-0 at both the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles position.
Last season, IUPUI fell to UIndy 5-2.
ABOUT CINCINNATI
Cincinnati is 3-2 on the season and is coming off of a 5-2 win over Dayton in their last match. The Bearcats are 5-0 in singles play at both the No. 4 and No. 6 spot and Emma Miceli and Maria Santilli are both 4-0 on the year.
In doubles play, the No. 3 spot is the most productive spot for at 4-1. Anna Philip and Kelli Niehaus have teamed up for a 3-1 record this season.
Last year, IUPUI lost 7-0 to the Bearcats.
ABOUT ILLINOIS STATE
Illinois State is 2-2 on the year and will play against Western Illinois before heading to Indy to play the Jags. The Redbirds have split their matches this year with their last match a 3-4 loss against UIC.
The Jags fell in a close 4-3 matchup against Illinois State last season.
