NASHVILLE, Tenn – IUPUI women's tennis will head south to Nashville to play two matches over the weekend. The Jaguars will take on Lipscomb on Saturday (Feb. 15) before playing Tennessee State on Sunday (Feb. 16).
IUPUI will be on the hunt for their first win of the season on the road trip. The Jags are coming off of a 4-1 loss to Illinois State in their last match.
ABOUT IUPUI
Four Jaguars are tied for the team lead with one singles win on the season and the duo of Krystal Grubb and Gabrielle Ochalik lead IUPUI with two wins in doubles play.
ABOUT LIPSCOMB
Lipscomb also comes in to the match winless having dropped their first six matches of the season. The match against IUPUI will be the first home match for the Bisons. Kate Popova leads Lipscomb with three wins, holding a 3-3 record at No. 1 singles.
In doubles play, Lipscomb is 1-13 as a team with Anja Trbeznik and Emma Zakordoniec picking up the only win, with a win at No. 3.
The Jags are 2-1 all-time against Lipscomb but lost their last meeting in 2016, 2-5
ABOUT TENNESSEE STATE
Tennessee State is 1-4 on the season with their lone win coming against Western Carolina. Aarushi Kakkar leads the team with a 4-1 record in singles play with two wins at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spot.
The Tigers also only have one win in doubles play, coming at the No. 1 spot by the team of Kakkar and Mackenzie Beckham.
The Jags have played Tennessee State in each of the last two seasons, splitting the games with a 4-3 win last season.
