CHESTERTON, Ind. - The IUPUI men's golf team posted their best score of the 54-hole Crusader Collegiate on Tuesday (Sept. 17), posting a final round 296 to finish the tournament at 896 (298-302-296). The Jags finished play in eighth among the 15-team field. Horizon League foe Wright State won the tournament at 11-under 853, edging North Dakota State and Valparaiso by five shots each. 

Senior Johnny Hsu was the Jaguars' top score on Tuesday with an even par 72 while classmate Nathan Cunningham was the Jags' top performer for the week at 5-over 221 (75-73-73). 

Hsu had a stretch of three straight birdies late in his round to get to 2-under before making bogey on his final hole. 

"I am glad I played good today. This was a great improvement from my second round. My mindset was good before the round started, even though I didn't feel good when I warmed up," Hsu said. "The course is challenging and I'm very happy that I beat the course today."

Cunningham chimed in with a final round 1-over 73 and sophomore Matthew Baxter posted a final round 75 to close at 224 (71-78-75). Senior Kyle Miller rounded out the Jaguars' scoring four with a final round 76 and Enrico Rissi Miozzo posted a round of 79. 

Cunningham made two early bogeys, but rebounded to play his final 13 holes at 1-under with a birdie on No. 14. 

Freshman Devin Trusty completed a successful trip to his hometown with a final round 72, closing the tournament at 8-over 224 (78-74-72). Trusty had three straight bogeys early in his round, but recovered nicely, playing his final 12 holes at 2-under with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 15 and 16. 

IUPUI will next compete in the Firestone Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Akron on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
