CINCINNATI - The IU Indianapolis men's golf team earned a fifth-place finish at the Xavier Invitational this week, closing the 54-hole event at 889 (297-297-295). Junior
Titus Boswell earned a fifth top-10 finish of the season with an even par, 210 (71-70-69), finishing third of the 76-player field.
Boswell continued his brilliance on Tuesday with a final round, 1-under 69, which included a bogey free back nine that he played to 34.
Noah Kirsch posted a 3-over 73, buoyed by birdies on two of his final three holes of the round. Freshman
Jack Scudder shot 5-over 75 and redshirt freshman
Keaton Parmley posted a round of 8-over 78. Senior
Preston Broce ended his final round at 9-over 79.
Scudder ultimately finished tied for 31st overall at 224 (71-78-75) and Kirsch climbed to a 39th-place finish on the final day, ending the event at 227 (79-74-73).
As a team, IU Indy finished second overall with 38 birdies for the week, trailing only host Xavier for the tournament. Boswell, who led the field in scoring on the par-5's at 6-under, made a team-high 10 birdies.
Xavier won the event by 14 shots at 854 while Tennessee Tech was second at 868. XU's Cayse Morgan earned medalist honors at 5-under 205 and TTU's Haden Maxwell was second at 207.
Tuesday's event concluded the fall slate as Boswell paced the squad with a 70.78 scoring average and .905 winning percentage in six tournaments. Behind him,
Brady Schier had a 74.71 stroke average and Parmley closed the fall at 75.17.
The Jaguars will return to action in late February, beginning with The Savannah Intercollegiate in Savannah, Ga.
