CARBONDALE, Ill. – IUPUI was unable to earn a 3-0 weekend at Southern Illinois as the Jags were swept by Memphis (9-0) on Saturday (Sept. 14). IUPUI (4-5) was led by
Corrissa Remter with a career-high 14 kills and
Hannah Oehlberg added 13 kills and 11 digs for a double-double.
For the weekend, Remter and
Maddie Dean were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Defensively, IUPUI allowed Memphis to hit .294 and collected just 45 digs.
Rachel Hickey led the team with 15 digs, followed by Oehlberg and
Rhiannon Schuenemann with 11.
The Jags fell behind early 7-2 in the first set and were never able to get back in to the set as Memphis kept any Jaguar run at bay. IUPUI pulled within four at 23-19 but two Memphis points ended the set in favor of the Tigers.
In set two, the teams traded runs with the Jags pulling within one at 16-15 after a kill by Remter. Memphis took control of the set with a 4-0 run and six of the next seven points to jump ahead 22-16. IUPUI would never get closer than four the rest of the way, dropping set two 25-20.
Again, IUPUI fell behind early in the third, going down 9-5. The Jags would go down by as much as seven before making a run to get back in the set. The run began with a kill and an ace by Remter and also featured two kills by
Allie Pogue and a block by Pogue and Dean to pull the Jags within one at 19-18. After Memphis took a 22-20 lead, consecutive kills by Oehlberg and a kill by
Kaitlyn Johnson put the Jags on top 23-22.
Memphis earned a point to tie the set but the Jags earned set point with a kill by Remter. From there, Memphis took over with two-straight kills and ended the match with an ace.

IUPUI will remain on the road with a midweek contest against Indiana State on Tuesday (Sept. 17) in Terre Haute, Ind.
