WISCONSIN DELLS, Wisc. - The IUPUI cheerleaders recently attended Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Cheer Camp on August 1-5 at Wisconsin Dells in the Dells Center Dome. The camp is UCA and the Universal Dance Association's (UDA) largest camp with over 1,500 cheerleaders, dancers and mascots attending.

Throughout the five days, the cheerleaders learned multiple cheers and chants, band dances, and timeout routines. They also had the opportunity to participate in team bonding exercises and other fun activities. In between, the UCA staff evaluated the cheerleaders on the material that they learned at camp.

The IUPUI team, under the direction of Ashley Burelison and Samantha Campbell, collected three superior blue ribbons, first-place in the Fight Song division, third-place in Gameday and "traditions" awards for outstanding leadership skills, school pride, and spirit. Lastly, IUPUI was awarded the "Most Collegiate Award" for their overall work ethic, appearance, class, respect to each other, staffers, and other teams.

"What an amazing honor to receive," Burelison said. "We're so proud of all the accomplishments from earlier this month and cannot wait to see where the rest of the year takes us."
