Box Score YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – IUPUI women's tennis had its season come to an end with a 5-2 loss at Youngstown State on Saturday (April 20). The Jags picked up the doubles point and a win in singles play against the Penguins.
After dropping the No. 1 doubles match 6-1,
Krystal Grubb and
Mariella Pessina earned a 6-2 win in the No. 2 match to square things up. With the doubles point up for grabs,
Meghan Bernard and
Samantha Hayward teamed up for a 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 3.
Youngstown State earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 and a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 to jump back on top in the match but Hayward grabbed a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 to make the match 2-2. From there Youngstown State would win the final three singles matches to close out the 5-2 victory.
The loss brings IUPUI's season to a close as the Jags finished in ninth place in the Horizon League with a 2-7 league mark.
