Box Score CLEVELAND – IUPUI women's tennis had three singles matches go to three sets but could not secure a point in a 7-0 loss to Cleveland State on Friday (April 19).
Krystal Grubb and
Mariella Pessina got the Jags started in doubles play with a 6-1 win in the No. 2 match but 6-2 losses by
Sarah Lounsbury and
Gabrielle Ochalik at No. 1 and
Samantha Hayward and
Meghan Bernard at No. 3 gave the Vikings the doubles point.
In singles play, Lounsbury fell 6-3, 6-2 in her No. 2 match and a 6-2, 6-4 loss by Grubb at No. 4 put Cleveland State one point away from the match win. The match went in the Vikings favor after Ochalik lost 6-2, 6-4 in her No. 1 match.
The other three matches all went three sets and IUPUI won the first set in each of the three matches. At No. 6, Hayward took the first set 6-1 but fell 6-1, 6-2 in the final two sets. Bernard went ahead with a 6-4 win in the first set but lost the second set 6-2 before falling 10-5 in the third. Pessina used an opening set win to get ahead but went to a third set after a 6-3 loss in set two. The third set went to a tie break with Pessina dropping it 7-6 (7-5).

IUPUI will close out its season with a match at Youngstown State on Saturday (April 20). The match with the Penguins will begin at 4 p.m.
