WOMEN'S TENNIS CLOSES OUT HOME SCHEDULE WITH TWO MATCHES OVER THE WEEKEND

IUPUI will play Milwaukee and Green Bay in the second-to-last weekend of Horizon League play for the Jaguars

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's tennis will close out its 2019 home schedule with two matches over the weekend as the Jaguars are battling for a spot in the 2019 Horizon League Championships.

The Jags (5-13, 1-4) will be looking to break a three-match conference losing streak as IUPUI will host Milwaukee on Saturday (April 13) at 3:30 p.m. at the West Indy Racquet Club. IUPUI will then play host to Green Bay on Sunday (April 14), with the match beginning at 9 a.m.

Head coach Marisa Arce's squad is led by Meghan Bernard with a 9-9 singles record this season. Bernard and senior Mariella Pessina both have a team-best 3-2 singles record in league play. Overall, the Jags best position in singles play has been the No. 6 spot. It is the only position where IUPUI holds a winning record (9-8) led by Bernard, who is 7-5 in that position.

In doubles play, Bernard and Samantha Hayward lead the team with a 5-5 record and are 5-4 in the No. 3 doubles spot. Overall the Jags are just 3-12 in doubles play in Horizon League matches this season.

SCOUTING REPORT
Milwaukee
The Panthers bring an 11-8 overall record and 4-2 conference mark in to the match with the Jaguars. Milwaukee is on a two-match winning streak with 4-3 wins over both Northern Kentucky and Wright State.

Three players for Milwaukee have at least 11 wins in singles play with Nicole Clarke leading the way at 12-7. In Horizon League play, Mayya Perova is 4-2 and holds an 8-1 record at the No. 3 singles spot. The only singles spot where Milwaukee has a losing record is at the No. 4 spot where the Panthers are 8-11.

Milwaukee is an outstanding 18-1 in doubles play in the No. 1 spot and the duo of Alex Belle and Perova are 10-0 as a team.

Green Bay
Green Bay is 0-6 in conference play and just 3-13 overall this season. The Phoenix will play at UIC on Saturday before taking on IUPUI.

Monika Gredzinski is the only Phoenix to earn a singles win in league play having won her last two singles matches at the No. 6 position.

In doubles play, Green Bay does not have a win in Horizon League matches and are only 9-30 on the season overall.
