AUSTIN, Texas – IUPUI senior
Krisztian Somhegyi became the first Jaguar in the men's program to earn points at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with a 13
th place finish in the men's platform diving competition.
Somhegyi, who finished 13
th out of 42 divers, scored 309.80 points in his six dives in the consolation final. With the finish, Somhegyi becomes the first NCAA Honorable Mention All-American in school history.
"From the first dive in the morning workout to his last dive in the consolation final, Krisztian was ready to dive and compete today," said head diving coach
Eric Barnes. "He was the most comfortable and relaxed I've ever seen him in a big meet…Especially given the significance of this being the NCAA National Championships in his senior year and the final meet of his diving career. I couldn't be more proud of his performance today and how he represented IUPUI throughout his career.
It was the senior's second time competing in the NCAA Men's Platform Diving competition after he earned a trip in his freshman year.
