WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYS TWO MATCHES OVER THE WEEKEND

IUPUI will play at Butler before hosting Akron as the Jags look to pick up their third win of the season.

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's tennis plays two matches over the weekend, remaining in the Circle City for both matches.

The Jags first match in 12 days will be a road contest against Butler on Friday (March 1) beginning at 5 p.m. IUPUI will then welcome Akron to the West Indy Racquet Club on Saturday (March 2) with the match beginning at 6 p.m.

IUPUI (2-6) is coming off a close 3-4 loss at Belmont has will be looking to end a two-game skid when taking on the Bulldogs. Against the Bruins, freshmen Gabrielle Ochalik and Christina Stankovic as well as senior Mariella Pessina, won their singles matches. The duo of Ochalik and Grubb also took the No. 1 doubles match.

SCOUTING REPORT
Butler – 6-6
The Bulldogs come in to the match having won its last three matches. The last win for Butler was a 6-1 win at Southern Indiana. Nina Bertino has been strong playing in the four or five spot with a 6-1 record on the season. Carolina McAuley is also 6-1, splitting time between the five and six spot.

McAuley and Kendal Wilby hold the best doubles mark for the Bulldogs with a 5-1 record at No. 3.

IUPUI beat Butler 4-3 a season ago.

Akron – 10-3
Akron is riding a two-match winning streak, beating Detroit Mercy and Binghamton by 6-1 scores in each match. The best spot for the Zips is the No. 1 spot where they are 12-1 overall and Sophia Geier is 8-1. Akron is also 10-3 at the No. 3 spot.

The Zips have identical 7-4 records in both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches this season.

IUPUI has not played Akron since 2016, losing 7-0 to the Zips.
