INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI volleyball's home schedule came to a close as the Jaguars were swept 3-0 by Green Bay on Senior Day (Nov. 10). Senior
Kaitlyn Johnson matched a career-high with 13 kills in front of the home crowd to lead the Jags.
Johnson matched her career-high, hitting .290 and has reached double-figure kills in her last four matches, also a career-best streak. Fellow senior,
McKayla Wright finished second for IUPUI (7-20, 3-11 Horizon) with eight kills.
Maddie Dean and
Haley Hoffman each tallied seven kills.
On defense,
Rhiannon Schuenemann led the way with 13 digs and
Rachel Hickey added 10. At the net, IUPUI only finished with four blocks as Wright and Hoffman each had two.
The Jags started well against Green Bay (19-7, 11-3 Horizon) using a 4-0 run to take an 18-15 lead after the Phoenix went up 15-14. The run started with a kill by Wright and after an error and kill by Johnson, a solo block by Wright capped the run. Green Bay got one point back but Dean had a kill and solo block, and Johnson added a kill to put IUPUI up 21-16.
With momentum going in IUPUI's favor, Green Bay scored three-straight, using two IUPUI errors to get within two. A service error put IUPUI three points away from the set win but Green Bay went on a 6-0 run with three kills by Kristen Paulus and three errors by the Jags to take the first set 25-22.
The second set began with the teams trading runs with IUPUI taking an 8-7 lead after a kill by
Allie Pogue. An error by Wright began a 4-0 run that eventually turned in to an 8-2 run that put the Phoenix up 15-10. The Jags pulled within three after a Johnson kill and an error but a 3-0 run pushed the lead back to six. IUPUI got the deficit back to four after a block by the duo of Hoffman and Wright but three errors helped Green Bay score the next four points to end the set.
Green Bay jumped on the Jags at the beginning of the third set, eventually taking a 10 point lead at 18-8. Kills by Johnson and Pogue sparked a 3-0 run for IUPUI and the Jags got within five at 23-18 after kills by Pogue and Dean. After Green Bay earned match point, the Jags fought off three points with kills by Wright and Johnson but Taylor Wolf, who led the Phoenix with 12 kills, ended the match.

IUPUI will finish the season on the road next weekend with matches at Oakland (Nov. 15) and Cleveland State (Nov. 16).
