JAGUARS TO HOST BOWLING GREEN ON TUESDAY NIGHT

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's soccer team will take on Bowling Green on Tuesday (Oct. 8) as the Jaguars set to play five of their next six matches inside the on-campus Michael A. Carroll Stadium. The Jaguars come in on the heels of an emotional 2-2 double overtime draw at Milwaukee on Saturday night (Oct. 5) in Milwaukee. 

MATCH INFO 
  • Tuesday's match will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+ as Greg Rakestraw (pxp) is on the call. Live stats will be available at kickoff. 
  • Admission is just $5 for ages 13-and-up and just $2 for youth, ages 3-12. IUPUI students are admitted for FREE with a valid Crimson Card and parking is FREE during home events in lots 59, 63, 80 and 86. 
  • A single ticket will allow for admission to the women's match will Illinois State at 4:00 p.m. and the men's match with BGSU at 7:00 p.m. 
THE SERIES
  • IUPUI is 1-5-2 all-time against Bowling Green and has lost the last three meetings in the series. IUPUI's lone win came by a 3-2 score in double overtime on Sept. 4, 2004 in Ohio. 
  • IUPUI is just 0-1-2 in the three prior matchups in Indianapolis, which includes a 3-2 overtime loss in Indy last season.
  • Alan Aguilar tallied twice in last year's contest, both coming via penalty kicks. 
  • Four of the eight meetings between the two schools have gone to overtime with the Jags going 1-1-2 in those decisions.  
JAG SCRATCHES
  • Senior midfielder Pedro Valladao was named one of 30 national finalists for the Senior CLASS Award on Monday (Sept. 23). He was one of just two selections from the Horizon League and was the lone selection from the Division I schools in the state of Indiana.  
  • Senior midfielder Yan Souza was named the Horizon League's Offensive Player of the Week this week after tallying the game-winner in the Jags' 2-1 win at Northern Kentucky in the game's 89th minute. Souza took a feed from Alan Aguilar and drove a shot off an NKU defender and into the open net. Cincinnati-native Chris Workman also scored his first career goal in that game as he was playing just minutes from his hometown.
  • The Jaguars win at NKU was IUPUI's first regular season road win since September 2014 and first regular season league road win since October 2012. 
  • IUPUI recently launched year three of the Jaguars' 'Real Men Read' program, having worked with seven IPS Schools, spanning 16 fourth grade classrooms. 
  • Aguilar fueled the Jaguars' 2-0 win over Purdue Fort Wayne, tallying goals in the 61st and 64th minutes. The winner came off assists from Gianni Catenacci and Fernando Borges and he added insurance just more than three minutes later by converting the fourth penalty kick of his career. 
  • Souza has a team-high four goals while Catenacci has a team-high four assists in nine games. Aguilar is second on the team with three goals scored and both Kirezi Freddy and Valladao have two assists each. 
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Quinn McCallion has been brilliant this season, registering a 1.04 goals against average and 42 saves in 866 minutes of action. He registered his lone shutout of the season against Purdue Fort Wayne. He had a career-high 13 saves at Milwaukee on Saturday night. 
  • Junior back Tommy Patacca leads the team with 847 minutes played and Catenacci is second with 802 minutes. 
  • IUPUI went 5-10-4 last season and 4-3-1 in Horizon League play, earning a spot in the league's postseason tournament. The Jags then won the program's first postseason match since 2007 by upsetting Green Bay in the opening round. IUPUI later took eventual league champion UIC to penalty kicks in the semifinals round. 
  • The Jaguars were picked to finish seventh in the Horizon League, according to the league's preseason polls.  
  • IUPUI returns its top two scorers from a season ago in senior midfielder Alan Aguilar (11 points) and sophomore back Corey Goede (eight points). In addition, McCallion (1.22 GAA) returns in net and five other starters - Tommy PataccaCameron PetersenAnthony Saporito, Shives and Pedro Valladao - all return. 
  • All total, IUPUI returns 14 of the team's 17 goals from a season ago. 
  • Head coach Brian Barnett is in his fourth season on the Jaguars' sidelines. 
SCOUTING BOWLING GREEN
  • Bowling Green is 6-3-1 on the season and 4-1-1 away from home with road wins at Robert Morris (2-0), Northwestern (3-0) and Detroit Mercy (1-0). The Falcons also boast a neutral site win over Wisconsin (1-0) with their lone road loss coming to No. 18 Kentucky (2-0). 
  • Chris Brennan and Chris Sullivan lead the BGSU attack with four goals and four assists each while Achille Robin and Ike Swiger have two goals apiece. Brennan has a team-high two game-winners. 
  • Anthony Mwembia has played 851 of the team's 921 minutes in net and registered a 1.06 goals against average and 26 saves in his 10 appearances. All total, he has a .722 save percentage and 26 total saves for the year.
