MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – IUPUI women's tennis had two players grab singles wins over the weekend at the ITA Regionals, hosted by Middle Tennessee.
After dropping their first round matches,
Sarah Lounsbury and
Marta Krakowski each earned wins in consolation play. Playing in the B Flight, Lounsbury beat an opponent from Wright State 6-1, 6-0 and Krakowski took down an opponent from Belmont 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles play, IUPUI saw success in the B Flight from the team of Lounsbury and
Samantha Hayward. The duo teamed up for an 8-5 win over Chattanooga in the first round and then took down Northern Kentucky 8-2 in the second round. In the semifinals, the pair of sophomores fell to a team from Belmont 8-2 to end their run.
In A Flight singles, both
Gabrielle Ochalik and
Krystal Grubb lost their first two matches. The duo also lost their first round doubles match.
The Jags will finish up play for their fall schedule at the Illinois State invite on Oct. 26 and 27.
