WOMEN'S TENNIS DOWNED 7-0 BY WESTERN MICHIGAN

IUPUI's Meghan Bernard took her singles match to three sets but the Jags could not muster a point against the Broncos.

Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. – IUPUI women's tennis dropped their second match of the season with a 7-0 loss at Western Michigan on Saturday (Jan. 26).

The young Jaguars (0-2) had a lineup that featured five freshman and one sophomore.

IUPUI started off doubles play with the team of Gabrielle Ochalik and Christina Stankovic falling 6-3 in the No. 1 match and the duo of Krystal Grubb and Meghan Bernard dropping their No. 2 match 6-2. The team of Sarah Lounsbury and Samantha Hayward were leading 5-4 in their No. 3 match when Western Michigan took the doubles point.

In singles play, Bernard played her No. 6 match to three sets but ultimately fell 6-7, 7-6, 10-8.  At No. 1 singles, Stankovic lost her first set 7-6 and fell 6-3 in the second set. Ochalik lost 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2, Lounsbury dropped her No. 3 match 6-4, 6-4, Grubb fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 and Hayward was beaten 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5

The Jags will be back on the court Sunday (Jan. 26) as they will take on Valparaiso, ending a three-match road swing to start the season.
