JAGUARS SPLIT SERIES WITH GREEN BAY

IUPUI scored a season-high nine runs in a run-rule shortened win over the Phoenix.

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI split its double header with Green Bay on Thursday afternoon (April 5), picking up a 9-1 win behind another fantastic performance from starter Megan Overton

GAME 1: IUPUI 9, GREEN BAY 1 (6 INNINGS)

Overton improved to 7-9 on the season as IUPUI (8-19, 4-4 Horizon) beat Green Bay (7-21, 4-4 Horizon) in six innings.

Overton was dominant again, only allowing one run on four hits and finishing with seven strikeouts and no walks. The first hit Overton allowed came in the top of the fifth.

IUPUI scored a season-high nine runs on ten hits and took advantage of three early Green Bay errors in the win.

Overton began the game with a single and then stole second, moving to third on the first error of the inning. After Maddie Keeley walked, Keeley stole second and another throwing error brought home Overton to put the Jags on the board.

Keeley would score in the next at-bat as Haley Ginger's single to center made it 2-0.

The Jags would add on two more in the second beginning the inning with a single by Delainey Turner. Delilah Wright hit an infield single to put two runners on. Overton bunted and another errant throw scored Turner and put runners on second an third.

Keeley bunted in her next at bat but Wright was thrown out trying to score from third. As Keeley rounded and headed to second, Overton came home to score and Keeley was thrown out at second.

IUPUI added another run in the bottom of the fourth and Ginger drove in her second run, scoring Keeley on another single.

Up  4-0 in the sixth, IUPUI closed out the game as Ginger drew a bases-loaded walk for her third RBI. Kristin London stepped to the plate next and crushed a ball to the left center field wall, clearing the bases for a walk-off three-run triple.

GAME 2: GREEN BAY 7, IUPUI 3

In what looked a mirror opposite of the previous game, IUPUI struggled to get hits and committed six errors in the Jags 7-3 loss.

IUPUI got behind early as Green Bay scored one run in the top of the second and took advantage of two Jaguar errors to score three in the top of the third.
A two-out bases-clearing triple in the top of the fifth gave the Phoenix a 7-4 lead before IUPUI had even gotten its first hit.

The Jags finally broke through with Delainey Turner scoring on a Maddie Keeley single in the fifth to make it 7-1.

In the bottom of the seventh the Jags tried to rally. Turner doubled to left center field and Delilah Wright reached on an infield single. Adison Lorsung singled to load the bases and Keeley drove in Turner on a fielder's choice. Ginger brought in her fourth run of the day with a single but Kristin London flied out to right field to end the game.
