INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's tennis team will play its final two matches of the season at home over the weekend.
The Jags will take on Cleveland State on Saturday (April 21) at 11:30 a.m., and will finish up the season against Youngstown State on Sunday (April 22) at 9 a.m. Both games will be at the West Indy Racquet Club.
The match against Youngstown State will mark the end of the careers of four seniors.
Valeriia Lavrenchuk,
Samantha Mayer,
Marina Schneiger and
Hayley Trinkle will all play in their final match as a Jaguar against the Penguins.
Mayer, who was named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team on Thursday (April 19), leads the team with seven wins this season and has been very successful as of late, winning three of her last five matches.
SCOUTING CLEVELAND STATE
The Vikings come in to the match boasting a 6-1 record in Horizon League play and a 10-11 record overall. Cleveland State has won four-straight matches, last losing to Youngstown State.
Cleveland State has 13 wins in both the No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots, which leads the team. Five players have double-digit match wins for the Vikings, with Isabella Spindler leading the way with 12.
SCOUTING YOUNGSTOWN STATE
Youngstown State leads the Horizon League with a perfect 7-0 record. The Penguins are 13-9 overall and have not lost since losing to Cal State Northridge on March 6.
The only spot under .500 on the season for Youngstown State is the No .6 spot, where the Penguins are a combined 10-12. Anastasiia Khokhlova has owned the middle part of the lineup with a team-leading 15-7 overall record.
