FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IUPUI (12-25) made the trip to Fort Wayne (16-26) and were met with a 16-2 loss in five innings. The Jags could not get the bats going, mustering only three hits in the defeat.
 
Megan Overton picked up the loss (11-12), allowing eight runs on six hits over three innings of work. The sophomore struck out two but walked five batters and hit one.
 
IUPUI got singles from Overton and 
Dani Cinquepalmi, and a double from 
Haley Ginger. The Jags also drew six walks, but left eight runners on base. 
 
Fort Wayne opened up the early lead, getting two runs on the board in the bottom of the first. A double by Demitra Burns brought in the first run and Morganne Denny's groundout gave the Mastodons their second run.
 
IUPUI cut the deficit in half in the top of the first as Overton drilled a line drive up the middle to score Cinquepalmi, who had singled earlier in the inning.
 
The big blow from Fort Wayne came in the bottom of the second. After two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases, Burns took an 0-2 pitch from Overton over the center field wall to put the Mastodons up 6-1.
 
Fort Wayne scored two in the bottom of the third and added its ninth run of the game on a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. The Mastodons tacked on seven more runs in the bottom of the frame to stretch the lead to 15.
 
The Jags will be on the road at Oakland for three games over the weekend with a single game scheduled for Friday (April 20) and will play a double header on Saturday (April 21).
