DAYTON, Ohio – IUPUI came up short in another bid for a series win, falling to Wright State, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon (March 31).
The Jags (7-18, 3-3 Horizon) offense was stymied by Wright State (10-17, 4-2 Horizon) as IUPUI only managed three hits on the afternoon.
Megan Overton,
Kristin London and
Maddie Keeley each finished with singles on the afternoon.
IUPUI's best chance for a run came in the third inning. Keeley singled to left field and moved to second on Overton's single. A groundout by
Delilah Wright moved the runners to second and third but
Haley Ginger struck out to end the inning.
After shutting down the Raiders in the eight innings she had thrown earlier in the series, Wright State got to Overton, scoring five runs off the Jags leading pitcher. Wright State hit two solo home runs in the bottom of the second to get the scoring going.
The Raiders added their third run of the game in the fifth after an error and capped off the scoring with a two run home run in the bottom of the sixth.
IUPUI will be back in action for its first home game of the season when the Jags will play host to Green Bay on Tuesday (April 3) and play a double header against the Phoenix on Wednesday (April 4).
