WOMEN'S TENNIS HEADS TO MICHIGAN TO OPEN HORIZON LEAGUE PLAY

Jags will be at Detroit Mercy (March 24) and Oakland (March 25) to kick off their first year in the Horizon League.

INDIANAPOLIS – After a three week break between matches, IUPUI women's tennis will be back on the court for its first two Horizon League matches of the season on Saturday (March 24) and Sunday (March 25).

The Jags (3-9) will look to break a six-match losing streak and seven-match road losing streak with matches at Detroit Mercy on Saturday and Oakland on Sunday.

#Valeriia Lavrenchuk# and #Molly Nguyen# each picked up wins the last time the Jags were on the court. Lavrenchuk has the most wins of any singles competitor for head coach #Marisa Arce#, with a 5-6 record at the No. 1 singles spot.

The doubles team of Lavrenchuk and #Krystal Grubb# have been a stellar 9-3 as a team at the No. 1 doubles spot. The rest of the doubles spots have not been as strong, especially the No. 2 doubles spot, where the Jags are 1-11 as a team.

SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
Detroit Mercy is 5-10 on the season and have lost two matches in a row with the losses coming against Lipscomb and Eastern Michigan. The best spot in the singles lineup for the Titans has been the No. 2 spot where Jasmine Apawti is 7-5 on the year. No other spot is over .500 for Detroit Mercy this season.

The doubles No. 1 spot has been the best for Detroit Mercy this year with the sibling team of Chelsea and Jasmine Apawti holding a 6-8 record.

SCOUTING OAKLAND
Oakland is 6-7 on the year and will play UIC on Saturday before taking on the Jags on Sunday. Before the loss to Eastern Michigan, the Golden Grizzlies has won three-straight matches and four of their last five.

Oakland has eight wins at both the No. 3 and No. 6 singles spot. Allison Motea and Darya Maltseva lead the Oakland roster with seven wins each this year.

Doubles has not been as strong for the Golden Grizzlies as Oakland is 12-27 overall in doubles matches this season. The best pairing has been Maltseva and Alexandra Whall with a 4-7 record.
