DETROIT – IUPUI cruised to its third-straight win with a 91-59 victory over Detroit Mercy. The Jags went 8-1 in road conference games this season, the best record in school history.
IUPUI (20-6, 12-3 Horizon) was led by
Danielle Lawrence who scored a game-high 28 points on 8-for-15 shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Lawrence became just the fourth Jaguar in school history to reach 1,500 career points with a three-pointer in the second quarter. Lawrence has now scored 25 or more points in her last three games, the first time she has accomplished the feat in her illustrious career.

Macee Williams finished second on the team with 14 points and was just two rebounds shy of her sixth double-double this season.
Holly Hoopingarner also finished in double figures with 13 points, hitting three threes.
IUPUI took control over Detroit Mercy (2-24, 1-12 Horizon) in the second quarter with a 12-0 run. During the run Lawrence scored eight points, including going 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Gunn and Hoopingarner each added jumpers during the run. A Williams layup increased the Jags' lead to 19 as the teams headed in to the half.
The game was reminiscent of the first meeting between these two teams, which saw IUPUI win 90-62 after a big first half.
Ten different players scored for the Jags with
Tamya Sims finishing with eight. Freshman
Brittany Welch scored a career-high seven points and Sydney Hall# also added seven.
IUPUI dominated on the boards, pulling down 45 to just 26 for the Titans. This lead to 16 second-chance points for the Jaguars.
Allex Brown was the second leading rebounder for IUPUI with six.
Jenna Gunn finished with three offensive rebounds, the second most behind Williams (6).
IUPUI also took control in the lane, finishing with 46 points in the paint to just 18 for Detroit Mercy.
The Jags held Detroit mercy to just 38.2 percent from the field and has only allowed more than sixty points in one of their last six games.
The Jags did most of their early damage at the free throw line going 14-for-14 from the line and finishing with 16 makes. As a team, IUPUI hit 51.6 percent for their shots and after the high-scoring output today, the Jags are averaging 86 points per game, 15 points over their season average.
The Jags started hot on a 7-0 run in the first two minutes before Detroit Mercy pulled within one. IUPUI responded with another 7-0 run featuring four free throws and a Hoopingarner three. The Jags took an eight-point lead to end the first after Hoopingarner hit her second three to beat the buzzer.
IUPUI has a quick turnaround with a home game against Milwaukee on Monday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
