DAYTON, Ohio - The IUPUI men's soccer team will take on No. 2 seeded UIC on Thursday night (Nov. 8) in the day's second semifinal on Wright State's campus in Dayton, Ohio. Thursday's match will be aired on ESPN+ as Andrew Kappes (pxp) is on the call. The winner will move on to Saturday's Horizon League Championship match.
IUPUI (5-10-3) upset No. 4 Green Bay on the road on Monday night (Nov. 5), capped by junior
Yan Souza's golden goal in overtime. The Jaguars built a 2-0 lead in the opening half on goals from
Corey Goede and
Sean Siasia and still maintained a 2-1 edge at the break. Green Bay finally got equal late in regulation, sneaking a header past freshman goalkeeper
Quinn McCallion to force overtime. However, IUPUI scored on its first shot attempt in extra time as
Gianni Catenacci played service from the left side to Souza, who redirected a header just inside the near post.
The win snapped the Jaguars' 43-game road winless streak and was the program's first true road win since 2014. In order to reach Saturday's championship game, IUPUI will have to avenge a regular season 4-0 loss in Chicago back on Sept. 15. In that contest, IUPUI allowed two goals in each half, including a pair in less than a minute's span late in the contest.
IUPUI entered the season picked dead last in the league's preseason polls, but has defied odds, first in earning a postseason berth and subsequently by reaching the tournament semifinals. IUPUI hasn't appeared in a league championship match since the 2007 season.

SIASIA, VALLADAO HONORED: The IUPUI duo of Sean Siasia and Pedro Valladao was voted to the league's All-Academic Team on Nov. 2 by the league's faculty athletic representatives. It was Valladao's second consecutive honor while Siasia was an Academic All-Summit League honoree as a sophomore in 2016.
JAGS MAKING AN IMPACT: Last spring, the IUPUI men's soccer team signed Fishers-native Tyler Harris to a letter of intent to join the program through a partnership with Team IMPACT. Harris, an 11-year old battling cystic fibrosis, was on the sidelines for his first game when the Jaguars hosted Bradley earlier this season. Harris has already had a profound impact on the Jaguars' program as members of the team have also visiting the sixth-grader at home and have plans to support him at upcoming cross country meets and other events.
HANCOCK COUNTY PROMISE: The IUPUI men's soccer team was among a large contingent of student-athletes that participated in the Hancock County Promise Day at Carroll Stadium earlier this season as Barnett and his student-athletes interacted with more than 1,000 third-graders over the course of the day.
