HISTORIC NIGHT HELPS JAGS WIN FIVE SET THRILLER AGAINST MILWAUKEE

Haley Hoffman set a school record for blocks and three Jags tallied career-high kills against the Panthers.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Junior Haley Hoffman set a school record with 11 blocks as the Jags finished with a season-high 18 blocks in IUPUI volleyball's come back win in five sets against Milwaukee on Friday (Nov. 2).

To go along with the school record, Hoffman also finished with a career-high 15 kills. Senior Abby Boatman also tallied a career-high and team-leading 16 kills, while matching her career-high with six blocks. Freshman Hannah Oehlberg continued her strong offensive play, reaching double-figure kills for the third-straight match. Kaitlyn Johnson's nine kills set a new career best and Maddie Dean also finished with nine kills.

IUPUI (7-21, 4-10 Horizon), down 2-1 for the second-straight match, used a 4-0 run early in the fourth set to take a 9-6 lead. After Milwaukee pulled within two at 11-9, the Jags answered with three-straight to take a 14-9 lead. The Jags continued to answer every Panther attempt to get back in the set and never let Milwaukee get back to within two the rest of the way. A kill by Boatman ended the set to give IUPUI a 25-21 win.

Playing in a fifth set in back-to-back matches, the Jags took a 10-7 lead after a block by the duo of Hoffman and Maddie Dean. Dean's kill later in the set gave IUPUI three chances at match point but Milwaukee answered all three to tie the set at 14. Boatman's 16th kill of the night gave IUPUI another match point but again the Panthers kept the match going with a kill. After the Jags earned their fifth match point on a Hoffman kill, an error by Milwaukee ended the match in favor of IUPUI with a 17-15 fifth set win.

Defensively, IUPUI finished the match with 82 digs, led by Rhiannon Schuenemann's 24. Oehlberg notched the first double-double of her career with 16 digs and Maggie Gibson's 16 digs, combined with a season-high 54 assists gave Gibson her team-leading 16th double-double. Rebecca Schlechte also finished with double figure digs with 14.

Steve Payne's squad hit a season-high .244, finishing over .300 in all three sets that the Jags won. Boatman hit a team-high .417 on 36 attempts.

The Jaguars have just two more games left in the regular season with both coming inside the Jungle. IUPUI will play host to Youngstown State on Friday (Nov. 9) at 6 p.m. before finishing the season against Oakland on Saturday (Nov. 10) at 4 p.m.
