GREEN BAY, Wisc. - When the dust finally settled on Friday night (Nov. 2), it was determined that the IUPUI men's soccer team will open the Horizon League Tournament at No. 4 Green Bay on Monday night (Nov. 5) at 7:00 p.m. Central (8 Eastern). Having already secured a berth heading into a final week bye, head coach Brian Barnett and his squad could only watch from a distance as scores trickled in, determining the postseason matchups and seedings.

Hopeful to host a quarterfinals game, it ultimately wasn't in the cards as Oakland defeated Green Bay in overtime in the final result of the regular season, vaulting the Golden Grizzlies to a third-place finish while Green Bay slid to fourth. IUPUI and Green Bay finished with identical 4-3-1 Horizon League marks, but the Phoenix earned the right to host by capturing the head-to-head matchup by a 1-0 score in double overtime during the regular season. Green Bay scored the winner on a penalty kick in the final minute of play to secure the victory.

This marks IUPUI's first conference tournament appearance since the 2013 season.

IUPUI (4-10-3, 4-3-1) repeatedly captured magic in league play, capped by a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Northern Kentucky in the Jaguars' regular season finale. Freshman Corey Goede headed home the game-winner in the 100th minute off Cameron Petersen's corner kick to secure the Jaguars' postseason berth. In league play, the Jaguars needed overtime to defeat NKU and Oakland and collected a key road point with a 1-1 double overtime draw at Cleveland State. In that match, sophomore Matthew Skaar posted the equalizer with 25 seconds left in regulation, blasting a volley off Fernando Borges' cross from the right side.

Junior midfielder Alan Aguilar leads the Jaguars' attack with five goals and an assist while Goede has a goal and three assists. In goal, rookie Quinn McCallion has a 1.21 goals against average and four shutouts in his 16 starts. He ranks among the nation's leaders with 86 total saves with an .804 save percentage.

In order to advance, the Jaguars will need to snap a significant road winless streak to get past the Phoenix. IUPUI is winless in the past 43 road contests dating back to a 3-1 victory at Houston Baptist on Sept. 13, 2014. Barnett's club was 0-7-2 in road matches this season, earning draws at Evansville and Cleveland State.

FINAL HL STANDINGS:
1. Wright State - 6-1-1 (19 pts.)
2. UIC - 5-2-1 (16 pts.)
3. Oakland - 5-3 (15 pts.)
4. Green Bay - 4-3-1 (13 pts.)
5. IUPUI - 4-3-1 (13 pts.)
6. Milwaukee - 3-4-1 (10 pts.)
7. Northern Kentucky - 3-5 (9 pts.)
8. Cleveland State - 1-4-3 (6 pts.)
9. Detroit Mercy - 0-6-2 (2 pts.)

MAKING THE GRADE: IUPUI was recognized on Oct. 4 with the United Soccer Coaches 2017-18 College Team Academic Award. To qualify, a team must have a collective GPA of 3.0 or better. IUPUI was one of 192 programs (four in the HL) to be honored on both the men's and women's sides.

SIASIA, VALLADAO HONORED: The IUPUI duo of Sean Siasia and Pedro Valladao was voted to the league's All-Academic Team on Nov. 2 by the league's faculty athletic representatives. It was Valladao's second consecutive honor while Siasia was an Academic All-Summit League honoree as a sophomore in 2016.

JAGS MAKING AN IMPACT: Last spring, the IUPUI men's soccer team signed Fishers-native Tyler Harris to a letter of intent to join the program through a partnership with Team IMPACT. Harris, an 11-year old battling cystic fibrosis, was on the sidelines for his first game when the Jaguars hosted Bradley earlier this season. Harris has already had a profound impact on the Jaguars' program as members of the team have also visiting the sixth-grader at home and have plans to support him at upcoming cross country meets and other events.

HANCOCK COUNTY PROMISE: The IUPUI men's soccer team was among a large contingent of student-athletes that participated in the Hancock County Promise Day at Carroll Stadium earlier this season as Barnett and his student-athletes interacted with more than 1,000 third-graders over the course of the day.

SCOUTING GREEN BAY: Green Bay finished the regular season at 8-5-2 overall and 4-3-1 in Horizon League play. The Phoenix were 5-3-1 at home this season, including league wins over the Jaguars, UIC and Wright State. Tomer Zloczower leads the Green Bay attack with six goals on the year while Joey Bourgeois finished with seven points on three goals and an assist. In goal, Nikola Kahvedzic played the bulk of the team's minutes and posted a 0.74 goals against average and 4-4-2 record in his 10 starts. As a team, Green Bay had a 0.82 GAA and .803 save percentage on the season.

INSIDE THE SERIES: Following this year's 1-0 double overtime defeat, IUPUI is now 2-3-2 all-time against Green Bay. The Jaguars' last win over Green Bay was a 1-0 double overtime outcome in Indianapolis on Oct. 30, 2005. Last year's meeting was the first between the two teams since 2008.

NEXT UP: With a win, IUPUI would move onto the semifinals round of the Horizon League Tournament, to be played on Thursday (Nov. 8) in Dayton, Ohio at Wright State's Alumni Field.
