DAYTON, Ohio - The IUPUI men's soccer team will take on Horizon League leader No. 17 Wright State (10-1-2, 4-0-1 HL) on Saturday night (Oct. 20) at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+. Head coach
Brian Barnett's squad is coming off a critical 1-1 draw at Cleveland State last weekend as the Jaguars scored in the final minute of regulation before ultimately playing to a tie. Sophomore
Matthew Skaar scored his first career goal with 25 seconds left to play off an assist from
Fernando Borges, helping IUPUI maintain the No. 3 spot in the Horizon League standings as the season nears an end.
IUPUI (3-8-3, 3-2-1 HL) continued to be solid defensively in league play, having yielded just six goals in six games for a 0.91 goals against average. Four of the six came in a 4-0 loss at UIC while the Jags have ridden four goals scored in league play to three wins.

Pedro Valladao and Borges all have game-winners in league play.
Freshman goalkeeper
Quinn McCallion ranks among the national leaders with 73 saves and a 1.25 GAA in 14 starts. His numbers are even better in league play where he has an .838 save percentage and three shutouts. He's benefited from a strong defensive core that's been anchored by
Tommy Patacca,
Rodrigo Zampieri,
Corey Goede and
Sam Gavin. Patacca has also contributed a pair of goals from the defensive third while Goede has a team-high three assists.
Wright State is among the nation's elite squads, having climbed to No. 17 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches national rankings.

QUOTABLE: "It always feels great to get your first goal, especially in a tough conference game on the road. Fernando put a great ball in and I just tried to get a good connection on it. It was a good result so hopefully we can keep this momentum up going forward," Skaar said.
MAKING THE GRADE: IUPUI was recognized on Wednesday (Oct. 4) with the United Soccer Coaches 2017-18 College Team Academic Award. To qualify, a team must have a collective GPA of 3.0 or better. IUPUI was one of 192 programs (four in the HL) to be honored on both the men's and women's sides.
JAGS MAKING AN IMPACT: Last spring, the IUPUI men's soccer team signed Fishers-native Tyler Harris to a letter of intent to join the program through a partnership with Team IMPACT. Harris, an 11-year old battling cystic fibrosis, was on the sidelines for his first game when the Jaguars hosted Bradley earlier this season. Harris has already had a profound impact on the Jaguars' program as members of the team have also visiting the sixth-grader at home and have plans to support him at upcoming cross country meets and other events.
HANCOCK COUNTY PROMISE: The IUPUI men's soccer team was among a large contingent of student-athletes that participated in the Hancock County Promise Day at Carroll Stadium earlier this season as Barnett and his student-athletes interacted with more than 1,000 third-graders over the course of the day.
SCOUTING WSU: Wright State is 10-1-2 overall and 4-0-1 in league play. The Raiders have outscored opponents 34-15 on the year with Alec Philippe (10 goals, 4 assists), Stefan Rokvic (9 goals, 2 assists), Deri Corfe (7 goals, 6 assists) and Jackson Dietrich (3 goals, 10 assists) lead the way. Philippe has four of the team's 10 game-winners. Joel Sundell has started the bulk of the games in net with a 1.03 GAA and 36 saves and four shutouts. The lone blemish on WSU's docket this season is a 2-1 loss at Virginia earlier this month.
INSIDE THE SERIES: IUPUI is 3-15 all-time against Wright State with all 18 meetings coming during the Jaguars' Division I era. IUPUI's last win over the Raiders came in 2010.
