DETROIT - The IUPUI women's soccer team will put it's six-game winning streak on the line on Saturday night (Sept. 23) when the Jaguars take on Detroit at 4:00 p.m.. The match will be broadcast on ESPN3 from Detroit's Titan Field. The Jags have been on a roll of late, outscoring their last six foes by a 9-1 margin to build the program's longest winning streak since the 2009 season. The program's five-game shutout streak was snapped on Sunday (Sept. 17) in a 2-1 win at NAIA No. 22 Marian.
The winning streak began with a 1-0 victory at Manhattan on Sept. 1 and followed with a 1-0 win over Wagner on that same road trip. Since then, IUPUI (7-3, 1-0 Horizon) has recorded victories over Ball State, Illinois State, Cleveland State and Marian. Freshmen
Valentine Pursey and
Miranda Ricks both have two game-winners during the streak while seniors
Krissy Kirkhoff and
Sarah Jacobs each have one. Defensively, sophomore keeper
Sophia Lipka has a 0.16 goals against average and .917 save percentage over the past six games and has been awarded with a pair of Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week nods and an #NCAASoccer Player of the Week Award earlier this month.
For the season, Pursey leads the Jaguars with 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists) and is tied with Kirkhoff and
Hayley Shelton with a team-high three assists. Kirkhoff and Ricks are second on the team with two goals apiece. Lipka has a 0.78 GAA and six shutouts in her 10 starts in goal while recording a .867 save percentage. In front of her, freshman
Natalie McNally has become a rock solid commodity, playing a team-high 865 minutes in the field.
The Jags are 4-1 away from home this season with the four non-conference road wins marking the program's most since 2009.
QUOTABLE: "It wasn't always pretty, but I thought we did a good job of sticking with the game plan and making the most of an opportunity when it presented itself. We have some girls who are kind of nicked up, so we aren't able to rest as many girls as we would like. (Cleveland State) is a hard team to play because they play a very direct, physical style. He's doing a good job with that program and honestly, we were lucky to get a result tonight," said Head Coach
Chris Johnson after the Horizon League opening win over Cleveland State.
JAGS GIVING WEEK: Sept. 15-23 marks the first-ever Jaguars Giving Week as the department is pushing to add 200 donors in a span of 200 hours. These tax deductible gifts help benefit the entire program or can be earmarked to benefit specific programs.

In goal, Marina Manzo has a 1.08 GAA and 55 saves, having started all 10 matches. She has four shutouts and an .833 save percentage for the season.
INSIDE THE SERIES: IUPUI is 3-6-2 all-time against Detroit and dropped the last three meetings in the series history.
