INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's soccer team will cap the 2017 season on Friday night (Nov. 3) when the Jaguars face Wright State (9-6-1, 5-3 Horizon) at 7:00 p.m. at WSU's Alumni Field. IUPUI (0-14-2, 0-8 Horizon) is coming off another hard luck outcome as the Jaguars were dumped by Fort Wayne, 2-1 at Carroll Stadium on Halloween night. The Jaguars struck first when senior #Uriel Macias# tallied in the second minute, but Fort Wayne defender Jan Schumacher scored in the eighth and 49th minutes to account for the visitors' scoring.

Macias drilled a shot off the left post in the final minutes and sophomore #Yan Souza# put a well placed shot on target late in the match, forcing the Fort Wayne keeper to make a sprawling save.

Macias has a team-high four goals on the year and fired a team-high 26 shot attempts. Behind him, sophomore #Pedro Valladao# is next on the team with three points and both #Sam Gavin# and #Alan Aguilar# have two assists each.

In goal, redshirt freshman #Michael Buck# has a 1.65 goals against average in his 11 starts, totaling 34 saves.

On the field, junior #Nick Anderson# and senior #Harold Agyeman-Prempeh# remain among the most dependable as the only two players to have started all 16 matches this season. Freshman back #Tommy Patacca# leads the Jaguars' field players in minutes played at 1,441.

QUOTABLE: "I'm proud of the fight in this team. Tonight I thought we played really well in the second half and just didn't come up with enough plays to get the win. I'm incredibly proud of the resolve that Uriel continues to show. He playing possibly his best soccer of the season as we wind down and that's a testament to him in that he hasn't given up and bring a sense of pride and ownership every time out," head coach #Brian Barnett# said following the Fort Wayne match.

CLOSE, BUT...: Seven of IUPUI's 14 losses have come by a single goal, including three Horizon League defeats.

JAGS IN THE COMMUNITY: Barnett and the Jaguars began a season-long partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools on Friday (Oct. 20), visiting a local school as part of the 'Real Men Read' mentoring program. In addition, IUPUI team members took part in the annual IUPUI Day of Caring on Saturday (Oct. 21), working primarily with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, planting trees throughout the day.

FORMER JAG EARNS MLS SPOT: After a long uphill climb, former IUPUI goalkeeper Eduardo Cortes recently inked a deal with the MLS FC Dallas as the team's third goalkeeper. He has yet to make his MLS debut, training as the team's third in line.

SCOUTING WRIGHT STATE: Wright State is 9-6-1 overall and 5-3 in Horizon League play. The Raiders are 5-1-1 at home this season with the lone loss having come in double overtime to Green Bay on Sept. 23. Stefan Rokvic (8 goals) and AJ Paterson (7 goals) lead the WSU attack while Alec Philippe and Sam DeRoy are tied with a team-high four assists. The Raiders have outscored opponents 24-19 on the season, despite being outshot by their opponents this year. In goal, Joel Sundell has a 1.30 goals against average in 14 starts and has a 7-5-1 record with five shutouts. Collectively, WSU has seven shutouts on the year.

INSIDE THE SERIES: IUPUI is 3-14-0 all-time against Wright State in a series that dates back to the 1998 campaign. WSU has won the past four meetings and the Jaguars are 0-8 in the eight meetings in Dayton. The last IUPUI win was a 2-1 victory on Oct. 26, 2010. The most recent meeting was a 3-2 Wright State victory in September 2014 in Dayton.
