INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI swimming and diving started its season off with wins by both the men and women on Thursday night (Oct. 5) at the Natatorium over the University of Indianapolis. The men won their meet 149-90, while the women won by a score of 129.5-113.5.
The first wins of the night for the Jags came in 1000 yard freestyle as junior
Olivia Treski won the women's race in a time of 10:28.50 and fellow junior
Ben Levart won the men's race in 9:27.63. The duo would also sweep the 500 yard freestyle with Treski finishing in 5:08.02 and Levart touching the wall in 4:35.10.
Other wins on the men's side came from
Vince Partlow, who swam the 50 yard freestyle in 21.36,
Mark Auger won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.04, and
Jonathan Stoller taking first in the 200 yard breaststroke clocking a time of 2:08.27. The team of
Jackson Sandala,
Josh Barajas, Levart and Partlow also took first in the men's 400 freestyle relay (3:05.69) to close the night.
Meagan Roni won the women's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.49 and
Carmen Escalante Ruiz won the women's 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.84.
On the board, #Rylee Dahlman# swept the women's competition winning the 1-meter with a score of 2.76.15 and the 3-meter with a score of 256.28. On the men's side
Krisztian Somhegyi won the men's 1-meter scoring 273.23 points and Mitchell Mastey took the 3-meter with a score of 303.98.
The next time the Jags will be in the pool will be on Friday, Oct. 20 for a home dual meet against Oakland starting a 6 p.m.
