Both teams will be vying for Summit League titles on Oct. 29 in Macomb

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's and women's cross country teams announced their 2016 schedules on Tuesday (May 31) with both squads slated for a number of in-state competitions.

Both teams will open the season at the Butler Opener (Sept. 3) in Carmel, followed by the Indiana Intercollegiates (Sept. 16) in Bloomington.

Head Coach Chuck Koeppen's men's squad is the defending Summit League, Indiana Intercollegiates and Butler Opener champions while Head Coach Antonio McDaniel's women's squad also won last year's Butler Opener.

Pruett set a new school record in the 8K a year ago at Pre-Nats, running 24:21.5, while Murphy ran the program's second-fastest time at 24:26.0. The Jag

McDaniel's team will return six members of last year's Summit League roster, including All-League finisher Zoey Johnson (10th overall). In addition, Alexis Lewandowski, Kelsey Tyler, Jennifer Emery, Jessica Backherms and Haley Welch will all return. The Jaguars will be bolstered by the return of a healthy Valeria Guzman and Savannah Turner, both of whom missed the bulk of last cross country season due to injury.
