INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's and women's cross country teams announced their 2016 schedules on Tuesday (May 31) with both squads slated for a number of in-state competitions.
Both teams will open the season at the Butler Opener (Sept. 3) in Carmel, followed by the Indiana Intercollegiates (Sept. 16) in Bloomington.

Chuck Koeppen's men's squad is the defending Summit League, Indiana Intercollegiates and Butler Opener champions while Head Coach
Antonio McDaniel's women's squad also won last year's Butler Opener.

The men's team will then make the program's first-ever trip to Boston to compete in the Battle in Beantown (Sept. 23) before both squads run the prestigious Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational (Sept. 30).
Both teams are also slated for the Bradley Invitational (Oct. 14) before the men's squad runs the ultra competitive ISU Pre-National Invitational (Oct. 15). The Summit League Championships will be on Oct. 29 in Macomb and followed by the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 11 in Verona, Wisc..
Koeppen's team will return five All-Summit League performers from a year ago as the Jaguars captured a second straight league crown. Included in that group will be
Robert Murphy (5th overall),
Dakota Dubbs (6th),
Damon Pruett (7th),
Connor Sorrells (8th) and
Griffin Miller (14th). Pruett set a new school record in the 8K a year ago at Pre-Nats, running 24:21.5, while Murphy ran the program's second-fastest time at 24:26.0. The Jag
McDaniel's team will return six members of last year's Summit League roster, including All-League finisher
Zoey Johnson (10th overall). In addition,
Alexis Lewandowski,
Kelsey Tyler,
Jennifer Emery,
Jessica Backherms and
Haley Welch will all return. The Jaguars will be bolstered by the return of a healthy
Valeria Guzman and
Savannah Turner, both of whom missed the bulk of last cross country season due to injury.
