INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's tennis team will embark on a busy weekend, hosting three non-conference matches in a span of three days at West Indy Racquet Club this week. The Jaguars will host Lipscomb on Friday afternoon (Feb. 12) at 3:00 p.m. before then hosting two matches on Sunday (Feb. 14). On Sunday, the Jaguars will take on Bowling Green (9:30 a.m.) and Valparaiso (5:30 p.m.) at West Indy.
Head Coach
Marisa Lambropoulos' squad is still seeking its first win of the spring season after dropping three straight tight decisions. IUPUI (0-7) dropped a 5-2 count at Dayton two weeks ago and followed with losses to UIndy and Bradley. The most recent defeat was a 4-3 loss to Bradley in which the Jaguars lost the decisive doubles point before splitting the six singles matches.Â
Freshman
Mariella Pessina collected a win at No. 3 singles while both
Samantha Mayer and
Bobbi Modesto also earned singles victories. Modesto has a team-high two singles wins this spring, having collected victories in the Nos. 5 and 6 spots.
Lipscomb is 2-2 to start the spring season while BGSU is 1-6 with the lone win coming at Detroit. Valpo is presently 0-3 with all three losses coming away from home. The Jags defeated the Crusaders last season, 4-3.
