INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI volleyball team and Head Coach
Steve Payne have announced the addition of Samantha Sheets, who has signed her national letter of intent (NLI) and will continue her playing career with the Jaguars.
"We are really looking forward to having her athleticism with us on the court," Coach Payne said of Sheets. "Sam has great speed and she'll really be able to help our blocking in the middle."
Sheets joins the Jags from Helena, Alabama, where she competed in volleyball at Helena High School. While there, Sheets also took part in the NASA South Volleyball Club Team. Of her notable accomplishments, Sheets was named the Area-Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP), an All-Area Team selection in 2016, the Coaches' Award Recipient in 2013 and an All-Area Team Honorable Mention in 2015. This season, she leads her team with 237 kills and 93 blocks. A member of the National English Honor Society, Sheets plans to major in Nutrition and Pre-Dietetics while at IUPUI.
"God has blessed me with the opportunity to play volleyball at the next level and I cannot wait to do it at IUPUI next year," Sheets said of her commitment.
A 6' 0" outside hitter/middle blocker, Sheets helped guide her team to a 21-12 record this season, going 2-2 in the region. Her team is ranked 36th in the state of Alabama, according to Max Preps.
