TULSA, Okla. - The IUPUI men's soccer team will head west this weekend in need of a win when the Jaguars take on Oral Roberts on Saturday night (Oct. 15) at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. IUPUI is even with Eastern Illinois at 0-3 in Summit League play while Oral Roberts is one notch ahead of both at 1-2.
The top four teams in the standings will earn berths in the four-team Summit League Tournament.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS (1-11 overall, 0-3 Summit)
   IUPUI is 1-11 overall and 0-8 in road matches this season. The Jaguars are led offensively by junior forward
Uriel Macias, who owns three of the team's five goals. Junior
Joshua Ayala and freshman
Pedro Valladao have a team-high two assists.
   Sophomore
Josh Gray has started 11 of the team's 12 matches and owns a 2.55 goals against average with 55 saves and a .663 save percentage. Sophomore back
Nick Anderson is the only IUPUI player to have started all 12 matches and has played a team-high 954 minutes in the field. Macias is second on the team at 828 minutes and sophomore
Ben Thornton is third at 808, despite missing the past three games due to injury.
    With his start against Cincinnati, veteran
Carlos Albor became the 21st different player to start at least one match this season.
SCOUTING ORAL ROBERTS (5-6-1 overall, 1-2 Summit)
  Oral Roberts checks in at 5-6-1 overall, but 3-1 on their home pitch this season. Santiago Riveros leads the Golden Eagles' offense with five goals and six assists and has played a role in 11 of the team's 18 scores. Junior Chavez has three goals and Colton Haskin has a team-high three assists.Â
   Defensively, Parker Johnson has started all 12 games in goal and has a 1.85 goals against average and 39 saves.Â
   ORU has been outscored 25-18 on the season and has three shutouts so far this season.
ACADEMIC HONORS
  Head Coach Brian Barnett's Jaguars earned NSCAA All-Academic Team honors on Thursday for their work in the classroom during the 2015-16 year. The men's team registered a 3.32 grade point average during the 2015-16 academic year, collecting the program's seventh award in school history (2004, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015 & 2016).Â
INSIDE THE SERIES
  IUPUI is 10-9-2 all-time against Oral Roberts.
   The last IUPUI win in the series was a 2-0 victory in Tulsa on Oct. 13, 2012.
   Last year, the two sides played to a 2-2 draw in Indianapolis as the Jaguars scored goals in the 48th and 84th minutes to pull even. Thornton had a goal and an assist in the tie.
LAST TIME OUT
  IUPUI dropped a 3-0 non-conference matchup to Cincinnati on Wednesday night, falling to 1-11 on the season.
   Cincinnati wasted little time getting on the board, scoring twice before halftime en route to the 3-0 win. Junior
Pape Ndiaye led IUPUI with four shots (three on goal) and Gray made three stops in goal.
