DAYTON, Ohio - The Jags finished up their two-game road trip with a loss to Dayton Saturday night (Jan. 30), 5-2 at Five Seasons Sports Park. The loss moves the Jags to 0-5 on the season with all of their losses coming on the road.
In doubles action, IUPUI's No. 1 pairing of
Sara Sherif and Samantha Meyer earned a point for the Jags with a 6-3 victory but Dayton fought back. The other two matches were tight but fell in the Flyers favor. At the No. 2 spot, Alex Townsend and Jackie Kawamoto defeated
Valeriia Lavrenchuk and
Mariella Pessina 7-5, and at No. 3, Dayton earned the doubles point with a 7-6 victory over
Brigitte Swartwood and
Rachel Swartwood.
The Jags earned two points in singles play from Sherif and
Bobbi Modesto. Sherif won her No. 3 match against Mattea Kilstofte 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 and Modesto won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.Â
Rachel Swartwood and Pessina both lost in three-set matches. Swartwood fell to Townsend 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, and Pessina lost to Kawamoto 6-4, 6-7, 6-1.Â
The Jags have one more road match, in Indianapolis against the University of Indianapolis, before starting a nine-match homestand. The match against the Greyhounds is scheduled for Friday (Feb. 5) at 3:00 p.m.
