Live ResultsMILWAUKEE, Wisc. - After two setbacks to nationally ranked Big Ten foes last weekend, the IUPUI women's tennis team will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 23) when the Jaguars take on Marquette at Helfaer Tennis Stadium at 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Marquette (0-0) will host a pair of matches on Saturday, beginning with a home match with Milwaukee at 11:00 a.m. that morning.
IUPUI (0-2) dropped 7-0 decisions at both Illinois and Purdue last weekend, but showed some grit up and down the lineup. Specifically, senior
Bobbi Modesto played a pair of tight matches at the No. 6 singles spot as first year Head Coach
Marisa Lambropoulos utilized the same lineup in both matches. Sophomore
Valeriia Lavrenchuk played at the top spot and was followed by
Rachel Swartwood at No. 2 and
Samantha Mayer at No. 3.
Mariella Pessina,
Brigitte Swartwood and Modesto rounded out the singles group.
The Jaguars could receive a jolt this weekend as Fort Wayne-transfer and reigning Summit League Newcomer of the Year
Sara Sherif may be able to take the court. Sherif was the Jaguars' top winner in the fall, collecting three singles wins.
IUPUI last faced Marquette on Mar. 21, 2014, dropping a 6-0 count to the Golden Eagles. Modesto is the lone holdover from that contest as she dropped a 6-1, 6-1 count while playing No. 3 singles.
