MUNCIE, Ind. – The IUPUI women's tennis team closes its regular season this weekend when it hits the road for in-state matches at Ball State and Fort Wayne.
The Jaguars take on the Cardinals on Friday, April 17, at 5 p.m., before making their way to Fort Wayne to take on the Mastodons on Saturday, April 18, at 2 p.m.
IUPUI enters the final weekend of the regular-season with a 7-10 overall record and a 3-3 Summit League mark. The Jags have dropped two in a row against quality opponents in Butler and Denver, but in each of those matches they received wins from the top spot in
Valeriia Lavrenchuk.
Those two singles wins upped Lavrenchuk's record to 8-7, while
Samantha Mayer and
Bobbi Modesto lead the way with nine singles victories. In doubles play, Modesto and
Rachael Bridegroom have combined for a team-best nine victories.
The Cardinals enter the weekend with a 13-4 record, while Fort Wayne is 19-7 and 3-2 in the league. The Mastodons have a busy weekend on tap in which they play Summit League opponents Western Illinois and South Dakota State on Friday before hosting the Jags and Indiana Tech on Saturday.
