WOMEN'S TENNIS WIN STREAK SNAPPED IN 6-1 LOSS TO CINCINNATI

Valeriia Lavrenchuk claimed a singles win at the No. 1 singles spot

3/8/2015 8:48:00 PM

CINCINNATI – The four match winning streak for the IUPUI women's tennis team came to an end Sunday afternoon as the Jaguars dropped a 6-1 decision to Cincinnati at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.

The loss evened IUPUI's record at 5-5, while the Bearcats improved to 5-5.

Doubles play has been a strength for the Jaguars during their win streak, but the Bearcats played tough on their home court winning the No. 1 and No. 2 spots by identical 8-1 scores, while their No. 3 team earned an 8-0 win to sweep the doubles point.

In singles action, the lone bright spot for the Jags was the play of Valeriia Lavrenchuk at the No. 1 position. Lavrenchuk played well winning 6-3, 6-4 over Katya Bure, but that would be the only point for the Jags as the other five matches fell the Bearcats way in straight sets.

The Jaguars will have 19 days off to prepare for a Summit League home stretch that begins on March 27. From March 27-29, IUPUI will put its 2-0 Summit League record on the line when it hosts South Dakota State, South Dakota and Oral Roberts.
