INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI men's soccer team will host Oral Roberts on Saturday (Nov. 7) for Senior Night at 3 p.m. Seniors
Clint Hoffar and
Eduardo Cortes will be recognized immediately following the match.
The Seniors
Hoffar leads the 2015 Jags in goals scored with five. He also dished out an assist for a team-high 11 points on offense. Primarily a defender through his first three seasons, Hoffar has made an adjustment to the attack this season. A candidate for the Senior CLASS Award early in the season, Hoffar will finish his education degree next fall and pursue his dream of being a high school teacher and coach.
"I am so proud of Clint," Head Coach Isang Jacob said. "I'm thankful to have been a part of his growth. He's very humble and very appreciative of everything that has come to him. He's the first one at practice and the last one to leave. He will be missed after this season."
Cortes has been a leader in his goal this season for IUPUI. The Dallas-native has stymied opponents all season to the tune of 90 saves, good for third in the NCAA this year. With 349 career saves, Cortes is second on the IUPUI all-time saves list. He also holds the school mark for most saves in a single game with 16. His distribution of the ball may be unparalleled in the country. Cortes hopes to continue his soccer career after graduation.
"Eduardo is probably the most talented goalkeeper that I've ever worked with," Coach Jacob said. "His distribution is the best that I've seen in any goalkeeper in the country. He has a chance to play at the next level. He just wants an opportunity."
The Game
IUPUI (1-9-6, 1-2-2) is still clinging to postseason hopes. While the Jags' chances are dwindling, they've yet to be eliminated. IUPUI will need a win against Oral Roberts on Saturday (Nov. 7) combined with a pair of losses by Fort Wayne and Omaha in order to jump into the fourth spot and grab a Summit League Tournament bid.

Omaha squares off with Eastern Illinois at 11 a.m. ET Saturday (Nov. 7) while Fort Wayne will host Denver later that night in a 7 p.m. ET contest.
While the Jags can't control their own fate, they can give themselves a fighting chance with a win over Oral Roberts. ORU (6-6-3, 3-2-0) comes into Indianapolis following a 2-2 draw with Central Arkansas. Junior Matthew Rogers leads the Golden Eagles with six goals this season, four from penalty kicks. Seniors Edgardo Mira and Tarik Salkicic have scored five and four goals, respectively.
The Jags have been led by Hoffar offensively, but it's been a myriad of freshmen role players who have contributed as of late. Freshman
Jared O'Dell sprung onto the scene last week against Northern Kentucky, tallying his first career assist and following it with a header for his first career goal. Rookie
Ben Thornton anchors the Jags' back line as the Linden, Mich. native leads the team in minutes played. Fellow newcomer
Nick Anderson is the team's assist leader with three.
Junior
Harold Agyeman-Prempeh doesn't show up on the stat sheet much, but the former walk-on's athleticism and speed has been unmatched recently in the midfield.
A win on Saturday and a little bit of luck could keep the Jags' season alive. Regardless of the outcome, Saturday's match will mark the last time Hoffar and Cortes take the field at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. The two will be honored immediately following Saturday's contest. Admission is free but standard university parking rates may apply.
