MUNCIE, Ind. - The IUPUI men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to nearby Muncie, Ind., looking for a win to start a busy weekend, but Wisconsin-Milwaukee proved to be too much handing both the men's and women's teams losses.

The men's team fell by a score of 156-86, while the women's team lost 141-98.

"We struggled a bit tonight. We came out flat and were never really able to get things going," head coach Matt Bos said. "This past week was probably the best week of training we have had all season - so although the results were not terrible this definitely was not what we were looking for but sometimes that's just the way it happens. We will comeback and get ready to go Sunday in our last tune-up before [the Summit League Championships]."

In total, the men's and the women's teams combined for five individual victories on the day, with the men claiming three and the women claiming two.

Margaret Barber and Natalie Trout claimed those victories for the women's team with Barber doing so in the 200 free and Trout in the 400 IM. Barber clocked her 200 free in 1:55.96, while Trout touched the wall in 4:38.11.

Despite only posting two wins, the Jags were able to post several Top-3 finishes. Melissa Berger posted a six-dive score of 250.00 in the 1-meter to place second, before Alexis Bullard and Madison Taylor each notched third-place showings in the 100 fly and 100 free, respectively.

Alexus Laird's 58.11 in the 100 back was good enough to finish second, before Barber again reached the podium with a second-place time of 5:12.55 in the 500 free.

In the final diving event, Berger again strung together six strong dives resulting in a score of 264.45 in the 3-meter to finish in second.

On the men's side, Rich Sunkel and Trenton Wolfe got things started with a 2-3 finish in the 200 free, before Jon Stoller clocked a 4:17.43 to place second in the 400 IM.

The first win for the men's team came from Cody Watts in the 3-meter dive. Watts and Milwaukee's KJ Heger went back and forth until Watts eventually came away with a score of 330.80 to win by 1.90 points.

The podium finishes continued with Lennart Kuester placing third in the 100 free, before Aaron Brysch found the winner's circle in the 100 back at 52.69.

IUPUI finished strong in the 100 breast going 1-2-3 led by Adam Ferguson's 59.37.

The Jags close out the weekend when they head to Fishers, Ind., on Sunday, Jan. 25, for the Butler Invite, which is scheduled to start at Noon.
