MURRAY, Ky. - The IUPUI women's soccer team will put a capper on the 2014 non-conference slate with a pair of matches this coming weekend. The Jaguars are slated to play at Murray State on Friday afternoon (Sept. 19) before returning home to host Indiana State on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 21) at 1:00 p.m..
Friday's match at MSU is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. at Cutchin Field while Sunday's match with ISU is free and open to the public but standard university parking rates may apply.
IUPUI (2-5-2) is coming off a tough 2-1 loss at Butler as the Jaguars yielded the game-winning score in the final minute of regulation. The Jaguars pulled even on freshman
Krissy Kirkhoff's fourth goal of the season in the 87th minute, only to allow the winner less than three minutes later.
Kirkhoff, the two-time reigning Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, leads the league in shot attempts (34) and has a team-high four goals and eight points. Sophomore
Alyssa Fox is second on the squad with three points and the trio of
Meghan Day,
Grace Perkowitz and
Kalli Shepler-Tucker all have two assists. In goal, sophomore
Nicole Kulovitz has played the bulk of the minutes and has a 1.59 goals against average and 40 saves in seven starts. Freshman
Catherine Schmidt has a 1.06 GAA and 17 stops in her six appearances.Â
Murray State (2-5) won an early season match with Georgia State and is coming off a 1-0 win at Saint Louis last weekend. Julie Mooney leads the Racers attack with three goals and Harriet Withers has a pair of scores in seven contests. MSU has used a pair of goals this season with Shelby Haworth starting the past four matches. The freshman from Ohio has a 1.46 GAA and 21 saves in her four starts, including the shutout at SLU. IUPUI is 3-3-1 all-time against the Racers, although the two schools haven't met since 2009. The Jaguars won the last meeting 2-1 in Indianapolis on Sept. 29, 2009. IUPUI is 0-2-1 in the three meetings in Kentucky.Â
Indiana State (2-4-2) enters the weekend at 2-4-2 overall and will play Western Kentucky on Friday before heading to Indy on Sunday. The Sycamores have scored 13 goals in the first eight matches with Sydney Lovelace, Maddie Orf and Kate Johnson having three each. Lovelace has a team-high nine points (3G/3A) in her eight starts. Brittany San Roman has a 2.10 GAA and 62 saves in net, including a pair of shutouts. The Jaguars are 4-9-1 all-time against the Sycamores and have dropped four straight to ISU. ISU won last year's meeting 4-0 in Terre Haute and the Jaguars are just 2-5 in the seven meetings on the road.Â
