PHILADELPHIA, Miss. - Junior Jose Pablo Segurola captured his first career tournament win and helped the Jaguars to a fourth-place finish as the IUPUI men's golf team opened the spring at the Frito Lay Taco Bell Intercollegiate at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. With Segurola shooting a 2-over 74 at the top of the Jaguars' lineup, IUPUI carded a round two 301 and finished the tournament at 616. 

Missouri-St. Louis won the event by 13 shots at 590 and UT-Martin was second at 603. Southern Illinois (612), IUPUI (616) and West Alabama 'B' (620) rounded out the top five. 

Segurola was one shot off the lead and tied for fourth heading into Monday's final round, but remained red hot on the course's par-3's to capture a one shot victory. Segurola finished the tournament at 4-under on the par-3's and was second among the 85-player field with seven birdies over two days. 

The Jaguars' lineup got a major lift from senior Rob van de Vin on Monday as the veteran shot an even par 72 to close his tournament at 156 (84-72). van de Vin had a team-high 22 pars over two days. Junior Santiago Ruiz closed at 154 (76-78) and fellow junior Derek Rohlfing shot 161 (84-77). Sophomore Tyler Davis capped the Jaguars' lineup at 164 (84-85) and classmate Bryce Very posted a 167 (85-82) while playing as an individual. 

Segurola became the second Jaguar to win an event this season, joining Ruiz, who won the John Dallio Memorial in late September. His 36-hole 145 was the lowest 36-hole score of his three-year career.

IUPUI will return to action on Mar. 10-11 when the Jaguars compete in the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville Beach, Fla., as part of the program's annual Spring Break trip to Florida.
