INDIANAPOLIS - After back-to-back matches away from home the past two weeks, the IUPUI men's soccer team will kickoff a three-game homestand on Tuesday night (Oct. 7) when the Jaguars host Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. at Carroll Stadium. The match will be streamed live on IUPUIJags.com as Morgan Adcock (pxp) calls the action. In addition, admission is free and open to the public to all home soccer matches this season although standard university parking rates may apply.

As part of United Way Awareness Night, there will be a pregame tailgate starting at 5:30 p.m..

IUPUI (2-5-1) earned a tough 2-2 draw at Western Michigan on Saturday, getting goals from freshmen Emmanuel Usen and Uriel Macias in the tie. Junior goalie Eduardo Cortes had one of his best efforts of the season with eight saves in an overall physical match as the two sides combined on 41 fouls.

Usen is tied for second in The Summit with four goals in eight games while Macias has scored three times, including a game-winner. Macias leads the team with 18 shot attempts while Usen is second on the squad with 13 attempts. Both Joshua Ayala and Jonny Williams also have goals for the Jaguars this season. Cortes has split time with sophomore Christian Lomeli thus far and ranks tied for fourth in the league with 20 saves. Cortes has a 2.80 goals against average in his three starts while Lomeli has a 1.80 GAA in his five starts. The duo has combined to make 39 stops in eight games and each has a win to their credit.

Valpo (5-2-3) has a slew of quality wins this season including having beaten Butler, Michigan State and Loyola. The Crusaders have been stingy defensively, allowing just seven goals in 10 matches for a 0.64 goals against average. Nico Campbell has started nine of 10 matches in goal, notching a 0.61 GAA and 32 saves with a 4-2-3 win-loss record. Jordan James leads the VU attack with three goals and Jordan Aidoud has three of the team's six assists. Both Jacob Gandarilla and Zev Taublieb has two goals and a game-winner each.

"They're a quality side and have gotten some good results so far this season," IUPUI Head Coach Isang Jacob said. "We're definitely going to have our hands full, but I like the way we're going right now. To get a tie at Western Michigan was a good showing for our guys. That was about as tough of a match as we've played all year and it shows that our guys are maturing and starting to come around. We had leads, but were unable to get the win. That'll come."

IUPUI is 7-12-1 all-time against Valpo and 3-9-2 in the program's Division I era. The Jaguars dropped a 2-1 double overtime decision on the road last year, but defeated the Crusaders 1-0 back on Sept. 19, 2012 when the two sides last met in Indy.
