BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Four members of the IUPUI women's track team will be back in action on Friday (Jan. 31) night when the Jaguars participate in the Indiana Relays inside Gladstein Fieldhouse on the IU campus. More than 1,200 athletes are expected to compete over two days at the meet.
Sophomore
Leah Brooks and junior
Amy Mattingly are entered in the mile while both
Lexi Hunt and
Savannah Turner will run the 3,000m event. The mile is slated to go off at 4:30 p.m. with the 3K to be run at 5:05.
Brooks, who just missed a school record in the 3K at Fort Wayne last weekend, holds the team's best mile mark of the season at 5:17.30. She ran 5:10.53 last season, missing the school record by just more than four seconds. The Dunlap, Ill.-product has a race win under her belt this season, having coasted to a victory in the mile at the season opener at Indiana Wesleyan.
Meanwhile, Mattingly ran 5:23.66 at that same meet earlier this season and looks to lower her personal best time of 5:21.54.
In the 3,000m, Turner won her collegiate debut by running a time of 10:34.56 at Indiana Wesleyan on Jan. 18. Meanwhile, Hunt is coming off a personal best effort of 10:48.17 at Fort Wayne last weekend, marking the eighth-fastest time in school history.
