ROCHESTER, Mich. – Following a 4-0 win over Western Illinois on Friday, the IUPUI women’s tennis team looked to close out its first Summit League cluster of the season with another victory, but the Jags fell to Oakland, 4-1, at the Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness Center.
 
The loss dipped the Jags record to 5-15 overall and 1-3 in the Summit League.
 
All three doubles matches went to Oakland to start things off, placing the Golden Grizzlies in front, 1-0.
 
Already trailing by one, the Jags needed to pick up four singles wins to emerge with the victory. IUPUI took the first set in three of the six matches, but it was only able to pick up a win from Bobbi Modesto at the No. 3 position, 6-4, 6-4.
 
In the other two matches in which Jags won the first set, both Shelby Hullett and Rachael Bridegroom had their matches go unfinished as Oakland claimed victories at the No. 2, 4 and 6 positions to finish off the 4-1 win.
 
IUPUI returns to the court on Friday, April 5, when it welcomes Detroit to the West Indy Racquet Club at 2 p.m.
