INDIANAPOLIS – Following a tough three-day, three-match stretch last weekend, the IUPUI women’s tennis team looks to get back on track on Friday, Feb. 22, when they welcome Valparaiso to the West Indy Racquet Club.
The match is set to begin at 7 p.m., and it will be IUPUI’s last match before going on a two-week break from competition.
“Coming off the three-match weekend finds us a bit fatigued, but we continue to struggle with bringing the practice level we are achieving to match play,” interim head coach
Pat Nickell said. “Bobbi is doing a great job of being a consistent point in singles and we are winning a doubles match, but can't get the second one to secure that very important point. Looking ahead to this weekend, the goal is to get production from the rest of the lineup.”
Modesto leads the Jaguars in singles wins this season posting a 7-3 record, while
Rachael Bridegroom and
Vanessa Whyte have been the team’s top doubles tandem with a 3-1 record.
Valparaiso comes into Friday’s match with a 1-6 record after dropping a 7-0 decision at Marquette last Sunday.
